How do I sign-up for Web Booster?
You can sign-up for Web
Booster at
http://www.avci.net/members
Look for “Get Web Booster”
and select either the Dial-up Sign-up Form or the Broadband Sign-up
Form.
I signed-up for Web Booster but where is the information to
download it?
The Web Booster download
information, activation code and instructions are sent to your primary
AVCI.net email account.
If you have never checked
your AVCI.net email account you can do this via the internet. Go to
www.avci.net and click on the Webmail link in the header bar. Log
in with your AVCI.net user name and password. If you have forgotten your
AVCI.net username
click here . If you have forgotten your password you will need to
call our office during business hours at 888-282-4932.
How do I install the Web Booster Software?
Please refer to the activation email that was sent to your primary
AVCI.net email account. This email will have the set-up instructions and
activation code necessary to download and install Web Booster.
Why do I receive an invalid Win 32 error when attempting to
install Web Booster?
If there was a problem when the file was downloaded you may receive
an “Invalid Win 32” error when launching the installation file. If this
happens it may be necessary to re-download the Web Booster installation
file. To do this, enter the address from your Web Booster activation
email into the address line of your browser and click go. If it asks to
replace the existing file on the desktop select yes.
If you receive the Invalid Win32 error message again after
re-download it will be necessary to request an installation CD by
contacting our office at 888-282-4932.
How do I know that Web Booster is installed?
Web Booster will place an icon in the system tray. When this status
icon is green and white Web Booster is enabled and when it is red and
white it is disabled.
Will Web Booster make my DSL or Wireless broadband connection
faster?
Web Booster does not
accelerate web browsing on DSL or Wireless Broadband connections.
However, Ad Blocking, Privacy Control, Spyware Blocking and the
Anti-Virus components of Web Booster are available for DSL and Wireless
customers and will enhance your browsing experience.
Can I use the Accelerator along with my Firewall?
Yes, But you must make sure that your Firewall allows access
to Pxui.exe and Pxclient.exe files in order for Web Booster work along
with the Firewall.
Why is my access code being denied, although I am using the
correct access code?
If you have verified that the Access Code in the Web Booster Status
window is correct by comparing it to the email you received, it is
possible that your web browser security settings may be set too high.
You may need to reset your security and privacy settings to medium.
To do this you will need to launch your browser (Internet Explorer),
Click the Tools menu, Select Internet Options… , and click
on the Security Tab,
From the Security page click the Custom Level button, Reset
Custom Settings field to Medium and click the Reset
button, confirm the change and click Ok to close window.
Next, click on the Privacy Tab, Move the bar to Medium and
click Ok to close window.
How do I disable or un-install Web Booster?
Close all running programs, Right Click the Web Booster icon in the
system tray, select “Disable” or "Un-install" from the menu and follow
the directions. If you uninstall Web Booster and decide you no longer
wish to use it you will need to inform the AVCI.net business office
after uninstalling Web Booster during business hours at 888-282-4932.
Can I still use my dial-up connection after uninstalling Web
Booster?
Yes. The accelerator requires no changes to your dial-up connection.
You keep the same user name and password and the same access number.
Why doesn’t web browsing appear to be 5X faster now that I have
installed Web Booster?
The default setting for Web Booster is only set to 2X faster to help
protect image quality. To increase the acceleration right click on the
Web Booster icon in the system tray and left click on settings. In the
Images field click on a radio button next to Good, Fair, or Low Quality.
Remember, the lower the Image quality the faster the acceleration.
Also note that Web Booster may not accelerate pages that require a
secure login such as when you sign in to a bank account or other secure
website.
Why do I see "Effective Speed: Check later", whenever I point
my mouse cursor to the Accelerator icon?
It means that either you are not online or that the software is not
properly set up.
When you are connected to the internet with a
dial-up connection the Web Booster icon will start animating as soon as
you start browsing. Point to it, to see the effective speed. The
effective speed will vary from web site to web site.
What are the system requirements?
Web Booster requires Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher, or Netscape
ver. 4.07 thru 7.0.
Operating Systems: Win98, Win Me, Win XP, Win NT 4, Win 2000.
Hardware Requirements: PC – 2mb of disk space and 3mb RAM. MAC - OSX
only.
Why do I get the Invalid access code screen, which blocks me
from going in to the Internet?
The Invalid access code screen will pop up, when you have cancelled
your account and did not un-install the software or, if you entered the
wrong access code in to the system:
Right click the Web Booster icon in the system tray and select
Repair, enter the correct access code and follow the prompts. Note:
Access Codes are all letters.
Can I use E-bay, while Web Booster is enabled?
Usually there are no problems, however if you do encounter a problem,
right click on the Web Booster icon in the system tray, select
Settings, Click on the Tools tab and uncheck "Maximum Privacy
Protection".
You may also want to delete Cookies and Temporary Internet Files.
Click the Tools menu, Select Internet Options… ,
From the Temporary Internet Files section of the General tab
click the Delete Cookies button, and then Click the Delete
Files button (check "Delete all offline content").
Why can’t I login to Spam Slade with Web
Booster enabled?
Run the Repair feature which is accessed by right clicking on the Web
Booster icon in the system tray.
Why do I get a Web Booster Conflict error when I change
users?
To avoid a conflict error (when there are multiple user accounts on
one machine), log out of the current user account you are in before
another user account is opened.
