On April 10, 1996, Pigeon Telephone Co. began offering local dialup Internet connections to its customers in the Pigeon, Twining and Alba/Lakes of the North telephone exchanges in Michigan under the name Agri-Valley Services. A subsidiary of Agri-Valley Communications, Inc., the company is more commonly known by its website, AVCI.net.

Quickly realizing the growing demand for Internet connectivity in the area, the company expanded its service area to include most of the Thumb counties of Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac.

Over the years, AVCI.net has met the demands of its customers with the latest technology and improved service, including the launch of High-Speed Broadband Service in 2004.

Today the AVCI.net service area has increased to include most of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula with an accelerated dialup service as well as nearly complete coverage of the Upper Thumb Region with High-Speed Broadband.
